CRIMINAL LAW

“It is a fundamental principle of criminal law that an imputed offense must correspond exactly to the type of crime described by law. If no law applies exactly to the point in question, then there is no offense” – Fidel Castro

It is often said that there are three sides to every story- your side, my side and the truth. As a firm, we understand that being the subject of criminal prosecution is, for many, a life altering event. The firm, having this understanding, will carefully consider the versions and circumstances of the alleged offence and through the course of the prosecution will engage the State to secure the best possible outcome.  The firm’s founder has a strong track record of successfully representing clients on various charges including but not limited to:

  •  Murder
  •  Negligent Loss of a Firearm

FIREARMS LAW

“The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good”. -George Washington

Firearm ownership within the Republic of South Africa is governed by the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 (as amended) and the corresponding regulations thereto. Although our firearm legislation and our Constitution do not recognise firearm ownership as a right (as with the American Second Amendment), our Constitution does guarantee the right to freedom and security of the person, and also protects and guarantees cultural rights. We believe that firearm ownership is a personal choice, and should you choose to own a firearm, be it in pursuit of hunting, sports shooting or other cultural activities or for self-defence, you should be able to exercise that choice.

We provide comprehensive assistance and services in the following fields:

  • Firearm applications and motivations for individuals- for self-defence, hunting, sports shooting, collecting etc.
  • Appeals against the refusal of an individual’s application for a firearm licence or competency certificate
  • Accreditation applications- for the Private Security Industry, Game Ranching Industry, Hunting Industry and others, as well as applications and motivations for licences for such purposes
  • Compliance inspections and advice
  • Representation in Section 102 enquiries (fitness enquiries)
  • Estate Firearms
  • Etc

CONTRACTUAL LAW

“A verbal contract isn’t worth the paper it’s written on” – Samuel Goldwyn

Contracts exist in our everyday lives and are the means through which we as people regulate our lives, affairs and relationships.  They, amongst other things, determine how we conduct business and even how we regulate and formalize our personal relationships, such as marriage.  Contracts convey ideas, bring the minds to agreement and create bonds to ensure harmony and prosperity amongst the parties.  When it comes to your professional and personal relationships, ensure prosperity through certainty and clarity.   Talk to us about the various contracts we can assist you with:

WILLS

“Say not you know another entirely, till you have divided an Inheritance with him”.-Johann Kaspar Lavater

Contracts regulate our Affairs in life and the same is true for wills in Death.  It is prudent for a person to plan in advance for the inevitable which none of us can escape, death.  Many families have been divided and acrimonious disputes have arisen around the reading of the will.

Plan and leave a legacy; for failure to plan, is planning to fail.

DESIGN REGISTRATION- CIPC

“First comes thought;  then organisation of that thought into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality.  The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination” –  Napoleon Hill

Protecting your intellectual property is equally as important as protecting any other property, as it too can be stolen and misused.

Should you have a novel or innovative design, be sure to protect yourself and your idea(s) by registering the design with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC).

Whether it is a functional or aesthetic design, we can assist in preparing and ensuring you and your ideas receive the necessary protection.
